New dye: Logwood.
The results far surpassed my expectations, which is a good thing because the last few experiments were not what I would call a success.
All the vegetable fibers were mordanted with alum, the animal fibers went in unmordanted.
I followed Jenny Dean’s recommendations and poured boiling water over the logwood chips and let them rest for 12hrs. The next day I filled the pot with more water and boiled it for 60 minutes. Strained the chips and began to dye. The dye was very strong and within a few minutes the pieces of fabric already looked almost black. To get the lighter colours I dipped the fabric and pulled it out almost immediately. The small piece of silk that came out a grey/blue was modified with iron. I love the colour and will be adding more iron to the remaining dye bath, to modify and help fix the colour better.

Nuevo tinte: Campeche.
Los resultados sobrepasaron mis expectativas, lo cual es muy positivo porque los últimos experimentos que hice no fueron lo que yo llamaría muy exitosos.
Seguí las recomendaciones de Jenny Dean y añadí agua hirviendo sobre los trozos de Campeche, dejándolos reposar 12 horas. Al día siguiente llené la olla con más agua y herví la mezcla durante 60 minutos. Colé los trozos y empecé a teñir. El tinte fue muy fuerte y en pocos minutos los trozos de tela ya se veían casi negros. Para obtener los colores más claros saqué las telas casi de inmediato. El trozo pequeño de seda color azul grisáceo fue modificado con hierro. Me encantó el color y tengo planeado modificar más trozos con hierro, no sólo por el color, si no que para fijar el color un poco mejor.
